The Beginning of a Good Thing – Handleless Pottery Cups

Thrown and trimmed waiting for the blue-green engobe
Thrown and trimmed waiting for the blue-green engobe

Yesterday I threw 7 handleless cups and today I trimmed them and put engobe on them.  I sent this pic and a couple others to the future owner.  They were happy to have received them and said “It was like watching a birth.”  I guess that is a good analogy.  The cups started as a lump of clay on a wheel head and were formed there; allowed to dry over night and then put back on the wheel head to be trimmed.  The next steps will be in the following upcoming posts.  Happy Throwing, Melissa Dawn Wickham  https://www.etsy.com/listing/207687380/small-blue-handleless-ceramic-coffee-or?

A Trip To The Philadelphia Orchestra to Hear Tchaikovsky with Yannick Nézet-Séguin

Muscians warming up prior to Tchaikovsky concert

I have been to the Philadelphia Orchestra before at the Academy of Music but never in the Kimmel Center.  It has a grand entrance hall with a beautiful cello shaped 2,500 seat Verizon Hall. The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts opened in 2001, as the new Home of The Philadelphia Orchestra.

Yannik Nezet-Seguin is the eighth Music Director of the Philadelphia Orchestra.  He was just as charismatic as the headlines had said. His and the Orchestra’s performance swept me away and inspired me to live my dreams in real life as wonderfully as they played.  I want to be as inspiring as they were for me….I could only hope.
